Interieur: 80's Vibe Keuken Met Flexa

De donkere maanden zijn weer begonnen, voor mij een reden om meer kleur in huis te brengen. Ik wilde mijn muur in de keuken weer eens een andere look geven. Na vorig jaar een 'ombre' muur te hebben gemaakt, leek het mij nu leuk om een 80s vibe aan de muur te geven. De jaren 80 zijn weer helemaal terug in de mode en het interieur, het is fris en vrolijk en echt iets wat bij mij past. Uiteraard heb ik weer coole kleuren gebruikt en dit keer met Flexa Creations!

De suikerspin ombre muur voor de makeover

In de Flexa Creations brochure viel mij het Accent kleurpalet het meeste op. Een palet naar mijn hart met frisse accentkleuren. Met de Flexa Visualizer app keek ik hoe de kleuren zouden staan op de muur. Heel handig en gratis te downloaden! En ik bestelde een paar kleurtesters om de verf in 'real life' uit te testen.
Ik koos uiteindelijk de kleuren, Macaron Peach, Humble Blush, Retro Vibe en Vintage Blue. Als verf koos ik de Krijt muurverf, een fijne verf om mee te werken en het geeft een mooi poederachtig effect.

Ik had het plan om een paar strepen op de muur te gaan verven met de kleuren die ik heb besteld. De strepen laat ik lopen van de ene kant van de muur, naar de andere kant. Ze lijken een beetje op regenboog zonnestralen. Ik was heel benieuwd hoe dit ging uitpakken!

Van het Accent palet koos ik een paar frisse kleuren

Omdat de muur al geverfd was in twee kleuren, besloot ik om de hele muur eerst te verven met de lichtste kleur die ik had uitgekozen om het te dekken: het lichtroze Humble Blush. Dit was de basis voor de rest van de kleuren.
Ik begon met het aftapen van de muur met crepetape. Ik verfde eerst de randen met een kwast en de rest met een roller. De verf liet ik goed drogen.
Dan het uitdagende deel: de strepen. Met tape maakte ik een streep voor de bovenste kleur Retro Vibe. Dit verfde ik in zijn geheel met een kwast. Ik liet dit goed drogen voordat ik de middelste streep aftapete en verfde met de kleur Vintage Blue. En vervolgens de laatste streep met Macaron Peach.
Ik heb gewerkt op gevoel, maar als je dit eng vind, kunt je eerst de strepen op de muur tekenen met potlood.
Toen alles goed droog was, heb ik de oneffenheden nog bijgewerkt met een klein kwastje. De muur is namelijk niet helemaal glad.

Een vintage schoolstoel van de kringloopwinkel heb ik een leuk drip effect gegeven met de kleur Retro Vibe. De stoelleuning heb ik eerst goed schoongemaakt en delen afgeplakt, zodat er geen verf op andere delen kon komen. Daarna heb ik een kwast met flink wat verf aan de bovenkant van de stoelleuning 'afgeveegd' en losgelaten. De druppels vallen vanzelf naar beneden. Verder heb ik niets hoeven doen dan alleen het te laten drogen. Leuk effect he? En zo tof bij de muur!

Het Resultaat | The Result

Ta da! Dit is het eindresultaat van mijn nieuwe 80s Vibe keuken! Ik vind de strepen heel cool geworden! Ik dacht dat het te heftig zou zijn, maar dat valt gelukkig erg mee! Het is lekker vrolijk! Ik vind de kleuren ook goed met elkaar matchen. Vooral Macaron Peach vind ik een hele gave kleur!

Ik ga nu lekker genieten van mijn toffe muur!

The dark months have started again, for me a reason to bring more color to the house. I wanted to give my wall in the kitchen a different look. After making an 'ombre' wall last year, it seemed fun to give an 80s vibe on the wall. The 80s are back in fashion and interior, it is fresh and cheerful and really something that suits me. Of course I used cool colors again and this time with Flexa Creations!

The Plan

In the Flexa Creations brochure, the Accent color palette stood out the most for me. A palette to my heart with fresh accent colors. With the Flexa Visualizer app I watched to see if the colors on the wall would fit. Very useful and free to download! And I ordered a few color testers to test the paint in 'real life'.

I finally chose the colors, Macaron Peach, Humble Blush, Retro Vibe and Vintage Blue. I chose the Chalk wall paint, a fine paint to work with and it gives a nice powdery effect.

I had the intention to paint a few stripes on the wall with the colors I ordered. I let the stripes run from one side of the wall to the other. They look a bit like rainbow sunbeams. I was very curious how this would turn out!

Get To Work

Because the wall was painted in two colors already, I decided to paint the entire wall with the lightest color I had chosen to cover it with the light pink Humble Blush. This was the base for the rest of the colors.

I started by taping the wall with crepetape. I first painted the edges with a brush and the rest with a roller. I let the paint dry very well.

Then the challenging part: the stripes. With tape I made a stripe for the top color Retro Vibe. I painted this whole with a brush. I let this dry well before I taped the middle stripe and painted with the color Vintage Blue. And then the last line with Macaron Peach.

I made the stripes from scratch, but if you find this scary, you can first draw the stripes on the wall with a pencil.

When everything was well dry, I still updated the unevenness parts with a small brush. The wall is not completely smooth.

I gave a vintage school chair from the thriftstore a nice drip effect with the color Retro Vibe. First I cleaned the seat back well and masked parts so that no paint could come on other parts. After that I 'wiped' a brush with a lot of paint on the top of the chair back and let go. The drops automatically fall down. Furthermore, I did not have to do anything but just let it dry. Nice effect, right? And so cool in front of the wall!

The Result

Ta da! This is the end result of my new 80s Vibe kitchen! I think the stripes came out very well! I thought it would be too intense, but fortunately that is not so bad! It is nice and cheerful! I also like that the colors are matching with each other. Especially Macaron Peach I think is a very cool color!

I am now enjoying my colorful wall!
